EE DoJ and that fun thing called Lag.
First I would like to give a heads up to the fact that this isn't a fix all. We have however had a lot of success with a few small changes. Basically we smashed our faces into the lag wall and then made one small change at a time that seemed to make huge difference in overall lag in the raid. Rinse and repeat till we can pretty much complete on demand unless the server goes Nuclear Shadowdragon on us.
So this is pretty much what I expect from a friend, guildy or pug who steps in on EE.
-No Eidolons necklaces
-No tentacles (take it off your bar.)
-No aura's till main room.
-No AoE's of any form or fashion
-2 to 3 warlocks max. I personally prefer for every warlock we have a empty spot in the party. It doesn't always work out that way.
First Fight
To avoid lag in the first fight you wait until everyone is fully loaded in (no load screen fully targetable etc) before starting the initial fight. If we have one person still loading or zone in late, we lock up.
-If you find you still lag too much you can activate the first fight in sets of two. Have one person walk directly center and it will only activate the center 2 Orthons.
Ballista room shouldn't matter. We have lagged out here, but not since the first week.
Blade Room
In the blade room there are 2 fairly large safe spots in front of the door.
-Spread your group out (as much distance as you can) and turn off all auras (warlock, crusader, healing, ***** etc.) and do not cast any aoe (consecrate).
-No one in your group should have an eidelon necklace and under no circumstances should anyone be casting tentacles ever.
-Once the mobs spawn and a group is agroed on you aoe and auras are ok.
-have any ranged toons zerg the corners in the delay between the room activating and the mobs spawning and have one of them be the designated "drop what you're doing and raise people" just in case.
-handle the rest of the room one group at a time
-keep in mind standing on another player seems to make things worse.
-this room still is the worse spot for lag
Main room
**** the first abishai where the door comes down.
-Split party into 2 groups... one for each tower and have everyone invis to their tower.
-Always use the side ramps ... don't go through the center. Ever.
-If you find that even after the changes to teleport you lag in the towers always hug the back wall of the tower.
(When you do that you can agro the spawns in two seperate groups pulling them to the party and reduce lag in that way by reducing the number of active mobs.)
-Have 1-2 high dps toons (preferably cleavers) per tower assigned to abishai. They are the only ones who leave the tower.
-No one should ever be in front of the portal while mobs are in a tower and no one should ever be hanging out by any doors or going through the center door. Gathering/waiting near the back torch works well. The mobs near the front door that teleport don't activate till you are ready for that pull.
When the archons start look above the tower to spot the light pillars.
-Your abishai team should know the static spawn points associated with each pillar.
-The abishai teams only should be leaving the tower.
-If a spawn is next to a tower that tower's abishai team goes to it pulls the abishai to the ramp and kills them then returns to their tower.
-If it is a center spawn the tower that doesn't have a spawn on its side is responsible for it.
-They exit the side doors and split up if it is a split spawn (one top one bottom) **** and return to tower (through the side door if their are mobs in their tower)
-If they have floor trash on them and there are mobs active in their tower they **** it on the side ramp before re entering.
-Aishai teams have voice priority until all abishai are located and ******. If a team is having trouble locating or killing in time while the other team is done with theirs that team joins the one that needs help.
-Good communication of location and an accurate idea of team dps so that you can know as soon as possible if you will need a hand are key
- I personally like to assign one high dps person on each side to rush to the other side in case of lag wipe or to assist in reinforcement clean up before 10 spawn waves. Invis capable.
Anyone that is ever outside of a tower should have no auras active and should be invised unless they are currently killing an abishai.
If you still run into issues with lag do one or all of these things:
-Limit the party size to 8-10
-Limit the number of warlocks to 1-2
-Change what time you are running it. Prime time will hit the lag wall of frustration and no one wants that.
To get our first EE completion we had everyone get on at 4:30 am so that we would have less server population causing lag.
Again, this isn't expected to be a "only way to run the raid" but more of a "I hope this helps with lag work arounds."
Good luck everyone.
