Ability scores/stats, upgrade tomes, and attack tables
Looking for help in understand; Ability scores/stats, upgrade tomes, and attack tables.
What I understand is that a +6 ability upgrade tome works over time, giving an additional +1 at levels; 3, 7, 11, 15, 19, and 23 (total of six).
What I understand is that characters are given the option to update one of their ability scores/stats at levels; 4, 7, 12, 16, 24, and 28 (total of six).
Q#1: If the above is correct, and a character starts with a STR of 18, buys and applies a +6 STR tome, and applies every one of their level-updates to STR, that character at level 28 will have a STR of 30, correct?
Q#2: Are there any race/class limits/caps on character's ability scores/stats (STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA)?
Q#3: If a +6 construction tome is applied to a level 3 human wizard whose CON is already 17, will that wizards CON be 23 (17 + 6) when he reaches lvl 23 if no other additions are added?
Q#4: Where can I find, what I could call an “attack table” for DDO? I want to find out how many levels of wizardry in needed to equal the attack value of a 2nd level ranger. Put another way, with a multi-class character of ranger lvl 2 and wizard of lvl X, what is the value for X when the Wizard part of the character will pass the ranger’s position on the attack table? Something like 1 lvl of ranger is the same as 4 lvls of Wizard.
I ask these questions because, back in the old days of playing DD on pager, I have a memory that no stat could have a value higher than 18 (maybe it was just our DM rule). I want to know is buying and applying a +6 tome to an ability that is above 14 is a waste since the total would exceeded 19 AND, I want to know as my character grows as a wizard, when do I need to through another level of ranger in to keep the better fighting table position. My play style is solo and up close in combat, not a range kind of guy, and started a character that is NOT primarily a fighter, cleric, or druid. Started a Wizard, then at lvl 2 and 3 took ranger to get "two weapon fighting" feat, favorite enemy "undead", addition feat option which I picked "Augment Summoning", and access to scimitar, so that I can use Fangs Biter to get the +15 hit points without the minus 4 attack penalty. Now I want to do Wizard from here out until I need fighting boost by adding another level to ranger here and there.
Looking for knowledge, Thank you in advise.
