201 Error on new Windows 10 installtion
I just upgraded my Windows 8.1 computer to Windows 10 Preview and was wanting to install DDO on it. I had played it on this computer when it was Windows 8 but it was the Happy Cloud version. I saw where Cordoban linked the Non-happy cloud version today so I uninstalled DDO and Happy cloud. Then I downloaded and installed the version Cordoban linked to. There were no errors during installation. I can log in and select my server, but then I received this error:
"Game error [201] Can't open the data files. Check that they exist and that you have permission to write to them. The program will now exit. [201]."
I looked it and found this article:
http://support.turbine.com/link/port...l-now-exit-201
I checked for the files listed and they were all in "C:\Program Files (86)\Turbine\Dungeons & Dragons Online"
Neither Turbinelauncher nor turbineinvoker are configured to run as admin or in compatible mode, although I did test comp mode for windows 7 and 8 but got the same error.
UAC is on normal (which the document linked above says it needs to be).
Its not critical that I play the game on this computer, I have another one to play it on. This one has a bigger screen and I did want to see how it played in Win 10. But if anyone else has gotten it to run in Win 10, I would be curious to know what you did to accomplish it (if anything)
thanks
