Insightful spell bonuses and how they work
Okay, I've spent a couple of hours with Google, and have not found a definitive answer as yet.
As of the latest update (U29), there are new types of bonuses, named "insightful ***" where *** is one of the many standard bonuses.
For example, I have a Warlock toon, who has in one hand an item with Impulse 48, which is described as passive +48 to force & such. In the off hand, I have a different item, which sports Insightful Impulse +17, which is described as "insight bonus to force spell power".
My question may be obvious to the veterns of DDO, but do these two stack? I.e. holding both items, and using Warlock's blast'em skill (which is basically force unless otherwise modified) do I get an impulse bonus of (48+17)=65 for my Eldritch Blast attack?
The DDO Wicki seems a bit out of date, here, implying that "insight" does stack, comparing it to Exceptional bonuses. However those are all listed as Stat bonuses, and do not mention basic elemental/spell bonuses at all.
I'm not good enough with reading the combat tab, to determine if there is any difference here. That is, equipping both items, versus just one, I cannot seem to tell a significant difference in damage. Is there an accepted methodology to check this? I'd be happy to experiment, and report back, if anyone has some suggestions.
Or better--if someone who really understands what's "under the hood" so to speak, and can report definitively if "insightful bonus" stacks with other bonuses.
I seriously wish DDO's character screen had someway to tell what your total spell bonus was, for any given type-- maybe there is, and I'm too ignorant to know where it is? I'd appreciate help here, too-- if there is any.
Thanks, all, for reading this and any suggestions. I'll check back in a bit-- I'm going to play in a wildnerness, switching out and watching the combat tree-- maybe I can figure this out myself. :)
