Gear Planner (in development)
I've begun writing a comprehensive gear planner that will be a stand-alone desktop program but will also have limited interaction with my build planner. Being its own utility I figured move the development feedback to this thread.
Early design goals:
- Able to set up an endgame gearset, or a different set for various (or every) level for TRing
- Choose the effects you care about and have them tracked automatically as you mix and match items
- All named items, possibly adding a "garbage" flag for items that are irrefutably terrible to shorten lists
- Able to craft items using any crafting system in the game, even lootgen
- Crafted items like greensteel will also give you step by step instructions for making the item
- Robust search and filter features (eg: What daggers have an expanded crit profile?)
- Allow the character builder to read the gearsets you make for including in build output
Here's a capture of the greensteel screen. The main screen will be a whole other thing, but since I never fully understood greensteel crafting I decided to start there. Screen layout is inspired by the montreal planner, with "floating" scrollbars to hide the lesser-used effects.

Here's a video showing what it looks like when you scroll:
What do you think? What would you change? Very little coding has happened yet so I can still easily change it around based on suggestions. Feedback wanted.
