A Little Overwhelmed...Help Please?
As mentioned, I'm a bit overwhelmed as to all the possibilities in the game. As such, you could probably infer that I'm rather new to DDO. However, I'm not new to the base genre, so I have a base build type in mind.
Now, based on my track record, I don't expect to be a truly serious player. I have a tendency to lose interest for awhile and return every month or two, though there have been a small few games that have been able to keep my interest for much longer periods of time. Therefore I highly doubt any guild would have the patience to deal with me. The downside is that I prefer to play as a Cleric-type. The upside to DDO is the cleric's solo ability. But since I expect to be alone for the greater majority of my game-life, even though I hope this isn't true, I would like to have a rather respectable ability to DPS and trap-find, even if one of those, likely trapping, is greatly diminished. The general gist is someone with the ability to do rather well alone, but could easily provide party support should the opportunity ever arise.
So my basic build idea is as a Cleric/Paladin, since they appear to have really good synergy, with one or two levels as a Rogue or Artificer. The issue is, I no clue how to set it up, and even less of an idea on skills. Furthermore, also based on my track-record, I have a tendency to come up with really terrible ideas. So, shoot me down, or recommend other ways to set it up. I developed a thick skin long ago, so I'm pretty certain I can take just about any criticism you can throw at me. Keep in mind though, until I know for certain if I want any of the extra content, I don't expect to spend anything except favor for the time being.
Any assistance would be much appreciated. Additionally, if you think you could put up with me, please feel free to recommend a world to play in. My current character is still only Level 1, and I accidentally screwed up his alignment so I can't incarnate to Paladin anyways.
