New Player Character Build (easy mode)
Let's face it... a lot of new players have trouble building a character that can stay alive and go toe to toe with enemies. However, it is simple to ruin a first time player's enjoyment due to the robust creation process. Because DDO is, in my opinion the cream of the crop of MMOs, I thought I'd share the little ******* that has given me the most pleasure, without being "gimped".
Any new player can use the arrow keys to run around, the 'E' key to attack/interact, 'SPACEBAR' to jump, and the number buttons to use key abilities. I play on a laptop. My mouse-thingy is only there for buffs and easy targeting.
Human
Alignment really doesn't matter. I tend to go for Chaotic Neutral.
14/6 Cleric/Ranger. Although, if one feels their 3 level 7 Cleric spells are enough, feel free to take level 20 as a Fighter and get a feat.
This isn't an end-all be-all kind of guy. His name is Keepinit Classy. And he lives on Argonnessen. First life, first time on the server.

I enabled all options so the regular forum denizens can weigh in, as well.
The Tomb was free due to the card combining thingy. Just use a non-Necklace item.
Benefits:
Ever-increasing offense and defense. Its very balanced.
Fully armored and Blur spell at level 20.
Self/party heals. In a variety of different forms.
Two long swords, poisoned if possible. Smite Foe on full benefits. crits, etc. Heals the party, cripples Bosses. Doesn't cost SP.
A nice sneak attack. *wink*
The list goes on...
Weaknesses:
Low Reflex saves.
Lackluster HP.
Some other nitpicks I'm sure will be pointed out. :p
STRATEGY
1-3 Do the Korthos Island stuff. Get the necklace that has two uses and gives you 10-30 (or whatever) SP each time. Never lose it. And for that matter do not ever take a necklace that gains you HP/CON/WIS/CHA/SP. Find things like Deadly *necklace* of Accuracy. Enter quest, cast Night-shield and Shield of Faith on yourself. And smash face. Heal when needed.
2-4 Waterworks, Butcher's Path, Garrison's Missing Pack Gert's Secret (is that right?). Learn them, love them, meet other players. Once you know the quests and how to do them, start keeping other players alive, as a cleric. If their HP starts to drop, toss them a cheap cure. At this point, the player may have already clicked a potion. Don't worry, you're learning.
3-7 Time to get rowdy. Solo things on your own. Divine Healing is your best friend. Its 3rd rank restores 4-16 HP upon you or an ally every 2 seconds for for X seconds, where X is your heal skill. By level 20, you'll have... math. Then factor in Empower Healing and your Positive Energy score.
8-12 Keep solo on Normal and Hard. Group for Elites. Keep everyone alive. Be aware of traps. Protect the mages and other healers.
9-15 Two poisonous long swords! Smite Foe is ruthless. And will eventually heal everyone nearby. It can heal up to twice, thrice is you have a good Doublestrike chance. The Weakness now is just so cash! Pump up your Positive Energy score and the world of DDO is your oyster...
